Senior Data Engineer - Contract

The opportunity
This is a hands-on role for someone who can get up to speed quickly, work through ambiguity and contribute confidently in a fast-paced delivery environment.

The role
You’ll be involved in:

• Building and improving production data pipelines
• Developing solutions using Databricks and modern cloud data platforms
• Working across SQL, Python and Spark
• Supporting and enhancing existing data platform capability
• Troubleshooting complex data and pipeline issues
• Contributing to platform reliability and engineering standards
• Working closely with other engineers and delivery squads

What we’re looking for
You’ll bring:

• Strong hands-on Databricks experience, or experience with a comparable modern cloud data platform
• Strong SQL capability
• Practical Python and Spark experience
• Experience building and supporting production data pipelines
• Confidence working with Git and Linux
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with changing priorities

Experience with AWS, Airflow, machine learning pipelines, SAP or mentoring other engineers would be beneficial.

We're looking for someone who can start ASAP, you must have valid NZ working rights and be based in NZ to be considered for this role.
