A Federal Government Department is looking to engage 2 Data Engineers to support the delivery of a range of solutions centred on data migration, data integration, data pipelines and enhancing the department’s analytics capabilities.

Contract Details:

Initial 12 month contract with a 12 month extension options out to August 2028 (2 years total)

Estimated start date August 2026 (pending onboarding and availability)

An NV1 Security clearance required (you must be an Australian Citizen to go through the vetting process).

Full time 40 hour work week. Hourly rate contract

Preferred Location: Canberra, ACT

Hybrid working options

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist with the selection and development of designing engineering methods, tools, and techniques for on-premise and hybrid data engineering solutions

Implement and assist in developing structure and data storing for usage in analytics and sharing with applications

Assist in designing, developing, and implementing structured and unstructured data pipelines ensuring data is fit for purpose

Understand the integration, consolidation, curation, migration, and transformation of data and aligns to relevant guidelines

Collaborate with business stakeholders to determine the required data sets and analysis tools

Required Skills:

Advanced SQL skills to extract, explore, and manipulate complex, large-scale datasets

Experience delivering Microsoft 365 solutions will be highly regarded

Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks or Power BI would be desirable

Practical competency in programming languages like Python for automation and data manipulation

Experience designing, building, and maintaining automated data pipelines and integration workflows

Familiarity with relational/non-relational databases and cloud or hybrid data environments in Azure

3+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or analytics roles
