About the Role

As a Senior Data Engineer in our Data Team, you'll design, build and optimise scalable data solutions that power trusted data and digital health innovation.

Working across Product, Engineering and Architecture, you'll lead the delivery of end-to-end data solutions on our Snowflake platform while helping shape the foundations of Telstra Health's enterprise data platform.

This role is ideal for an experienced, hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, influencing engineering practices and mentoring others.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, build and optimise scalable data engineering solutions on Snowflake
  • Develop reusable batch, streaming and near real-time data pipelines
  • Build robust data integrations across cloud, SaaS, API and enterprise systems
  • Design data models supporting analytics, operational reporting and interoperability
  • Apply engineering best practices including coding standards, testing, automation and CI/CD
  • Monitor and optimise platform performance, reliability, scalability and cost efficiency
  • Ensure solutions meet security, privacy, governance and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with Product, Architecture and Engineering teams to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.

About You

  • Strong hands-on experience designing and building data solutions using Snowflake
  • Advanced SQL skills and strong experience developing data pipelines using Python
  • Experience with modern data engineering tools such as dbt, Snowpipe, Snowpark, Streams or Tasks
  • Experience integrating data across cloud platforms, APIs, SaaS products and enterprise systems
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, data quality, governance and security principles
  • Experience applying CI/CD, automated testing and source control practices
  • Practical experience with AWS data services highly regarded
  • Healthcare data experience, including FHIR or HL7, is advantageous but not essential
  • Australian citizenship is required for this role.
