Senior Designer

Summary

Senior mechanical engineer designing subsea wellheads and completion systems, managing technical risks, and coordinating with global teams to deliver oilfield equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sub-system responsible engineer responsible to translate customer requirements into a viable and competitive sub-system / system design.

Assess technical risks and construct mitigation plans.

Interface and negotiate with customers and suppliers on technical matters.

Design, execute and manage engineering plans at sub-system level for self and others.

Approve engineering work packages such as drawings, Bill of Material, Testing Specifications and Reports, procedures, data sheets, operating manual, etc.

Approve mechanical calculations and reports.

Conduct / Participate in design reviews to freeze the designs.

May be designated as independent approver for design reviews.

Participate and review contract terms and standards, and technical terms and conditions.

Coordinate with various departments in manufacturing plant site (China) and Singapore design office to ensure seamless project execution.

§ Approve design verification reports for third party review and certification.

Provide technical support and guidance through project life cycle from tender phase through design, manufacturing, assembly, test and installation.

Frequent travels to meet customers and / or to field or manufacturing plant sites to assist with product related enquiries, or as assign by the company.

Approve for all the NCR’s with sound justification and meeting all requirements.

Provide coaching and mentorship to minimum 2 junior engineers.

Provide product related trainings within department and company.

Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Recognized Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

10 - 13 years of product design experience with deep knowledge in Subsea Wellheads and Subsea Completion, and good knowledge of other products in Subsea Production System.

Familiar with industrial standards such as API, NACE, ASME, ASTM, etc.

Must demonstrate a strong understanding of API 6A & API 17D and Q1 quality management.

Strong understanding of engineering practices, design methods & calculations.

High proficiency in software for engineering design such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, MathCad and experience with Finite Element Analysis Tools will be an advantage.

Ability to read, interpret & prepare applicable technical information & suggest design/process changes to ensure simple, functional and cost effective results.

A team player with ability to work with all levels of staff.

Can work under a fast pace environment with tight schedule.

Meticulous with attention to delivering quality product.

Proactive with ability to identify issues and propose solutions.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Able to travel.
