Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS/Azure)

Summary

Senior DevOps Engineer to migrate and operate Kubernetes platforms from Azure to AWS, using Terraform, GitHub Actions, and observability tools while ensuring security and scalability.

For our client operating in the energy industry, we are looking for a Senior DevOps Consultant to support the migration of Kubernetes-based platforms and applications from Azure/Azure DevOps to AWS/GitHub Actions.

Location

Hybrid – 2 days/week from Warsaw office

Tasks

  • Plan and execute the migration of Kubernetes-based applications and platform components from Azure to AWS

  • Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform across Azure and AWS environments

  • Migrate CI/CD pipelines from Azure DevOps to GitHub Actions and ensure secure, scalable deployment processes

  • Deploy, operate, and optimize Kubernetes platforms, including workload troubleshooting and production support

  • Lead migration activities related to networking, identity, security, storage, and application integrations

  • Support migration of data and persistent storage, including backup, restore, validation, cutover, and rollback activities

  • Deploy and manage JupyterHub/JupyterLab environments on Kubernetes, ensuring scalability, security, and operational stability

  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions across cloud and Kubernetes environments

  • Define and enforce cloud security best practices, IAM/RBAC models, workload identity, and secrets management

  • Automate operational processes, validation checks, and migration tasks using Python, Bash, and Infrastructure as Code

  • Collaborate with application, platform, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure successful migration delivery

Expectations

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Infrastructure roles, including Kubernetes-based application migrations and production cloud environments

  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm and/or Kustomize, including RBAC, service accounts, ingress controllers, workload troubleshooting, and production cluster operations

  • Strong experience with both AWS and Azure cloud platforms, including:

    • AWS: EKS, IAM, IRSA, VPC, Route 53, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager/Parameter Store, S3, RDS, EFS

    • Azure: AKS, Azure DevOps, Azure Container Registry, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics

  • Expert-level experience with Terraform, including reusable modules, remote state management, environment separation, and infrastructure migration patterns

  • Expert-level experience with GitHub Actions and CI/CD best practices

  • Hands-on experience deploying and operating JupyterHub/JupyterLab on Kubernetes, preferably on AWS EKS, including authentication, storage, scaling, resource management, and cloud-native integrations

  • Practical experience with application, database, and storage migration activities, including migration planning, validation, cutover, and rollback strategies

  • Strong understanding of cloud and Kubernetes networking, including VPC/VNet, DNS, TLS certificates, load balancing, ingress/egress traffic, private connectivity, and service discovery

  • Strong security mindset with experience in IAM, workload identity, Kubernetes RBAC, secrets management, container image security, and compliance-related requirements

  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools, including CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, logs, metrics, traces, and alert migration

  • Proficiency in Python or Bash scripting for automation and operational tooling

Nice to have

  • Experience with AKS to EKS migrations

  • Experience migrating Azure DevOps YAML pipelines to GitHub Actions

  • Additional experience with JupyterHub/JupyterLab in large-scale enterprise environments

  • Experience within data-intensive, analytics, or research-focused platforms
