Senior DevOps Engineer - Azure (Contractor)

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, improving deployment processes and working closely with technical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, maintain and optimise cloud infrastructure
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Work with Docker and Kubernetes, including the migration of PayFast to Kubernetes
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management
- Perform Linux administration and complex troubleshooting
- Monitor systems using applications, logs and ELK/OpenSearch
- Manage security, incident response, firewalls and patching
- Support database maintenance and implementations
- Manage CI, testing and release processes
- Research and evaluate new technologies
- Support system reliability, scalability and availability
Key Requirements
- High-level proficiency in Linux
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with Jenkins or GitLab CI
- Scripting/programming experience in Bash, Python, PHP, Java or Go
- Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef or SaltStack
- Experience with Apache, Nginx, FPM or Node
- Load balancing and networking experience
- Database experience, ideally MySQL/MariaDB and cloud-based databases
- Experience with Redis, MongoDB, queues and replication technologies
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience working within Agile environments
Advantageous:
Certifications such as RHCE, ISO 27001 or PCI would be advantageous but are not essential.
