About the Role
Our client, a leading e-commerce platform, is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to enhance their robust infrastructure and development processes. This role will be based in Vereeniging, Gauteng, with a flexible hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a blend of office collaboration and remote flexibility. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing our CI/CD pipelines, automating cloud infrastructure, and ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of our production environments. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cloud technologies, containerization, and infrastructure as code, with a passion for streamlining development workflows and fostering a culture of collaboration between development and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable CI/CD pipelines for automated application builds, testing, and deployment.
- Manage and automate cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Implement and manage containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve efficiency and availability.
- Develop and maintain robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
- Collaborate closely with development and QA teams to ensure smooth deployment processes and rapid issue resolution.
- Implement and enforce security best practices across the infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
- Automate operational tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Provide on-call support for production incidents as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a DevOps or Systems Engineering role.
- Proven experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
- Strong expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Proficiency with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
- Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and system administration.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
