Senior DevOps Engineer - Cloud Automation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join their robust technology team in Kimberley, Northern Cape. This role is central to optimizing our client's software development lifecycle through the implementation of advanced automation, continuous integration, and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices. You will be instrumental in building and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure, fostering collaboration between development and operations teams. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cloud platforms (preferably AWS or Azure), containerization technologies, and scripting languages. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
• Develop and maintain scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure).
• Implement and manage containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• Monitor system performance, availability, and security, and implement proactive solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues efficiently.
• Collaborate closely with development and QA teams to ensure smooth software delivery.
• Optimize cloud resource utilization for cost-efficiency and performance.
• Implement and enforce security best practices across the infrastructure and deployment processes.
• Document infrastructure, processes, and configurations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or a related infrastructure/operations role.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS or Azure.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience implementing and managing CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and monitoring tools.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work effectively on-site in Kimberley, Northern Cape.
