The Digital Security team plays a critical role in protecting Parliament's information, systems and digital services. Working across security operations, vulnerability management, incident response, technical assurance, governance, risk and compliance, the team helps ensure Parliament can operate securely in an increasingly complex cyber threat environment.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

As Senior Digital Security Analyst, you'll play a key role in strengthening Parliament's digital security governance, risk, compliance and assurance practices, helping ensure our information, systems and digital services are protected, trusted and fit for purpose.

Working across digital security assurance, risk management, compliance monitoring and control improvement, you'll help assess security risks, test the effectiveness of controls, support certification and accreditation activities, and provide clear advice that enables informed decision-making.

You'll act as a senior advisor and assurance specialist, translating technical security requirements into practical guidance for stakeholders across Parliament IT, business groups, suppliers and the wider government sector. You'll also contribute to the ongoing development of policies, standards, risk assessments and assurance processes that support Parliament's security posture.

Tō kete | What you will bring to the role

We're looking for an experienced cyber security professional with strong governance, risk, compliance and digital security assurance expertise, sound judgement and a passion for protecting critical systems and information.

You'll bring significant experience working in a senior security analyst, security assurance, GRC or similar role within a large and complex organisation. You'll be confident assessing security risks, evaluating control effectiveness, supporting compliance activities, contributing to certification and accreditation processes, and providing practical security advice to a range of stakeholders.

Success in this role will come from your analytical mindset, ability to translate technical and assurance requirements into clear advice, and your commitment to continuous improvement, collaboration and risk-informed decision-making.

To be successful you'll demonstrate:

• Significant experience in a senior cyber security, security assurance, GRC or similar role
• Strong understanding of digital security governance, risk management, compliance obligations, assurance practices and security control frameworks
• Experience conducting security risk assessments, control reviews, assurance activities and security assessments across systems, services and suppliers
• Experience supporting certification and accreditation activities, including gathering evidence, assessing compliance and preparing assurance advice
• Excellent problem-solving skills, sound judgement and the ability to analyse complex risk, assurance and security issues
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders
• Relevant tertiary qualifications, industry certifications and a commitment to continuous professional development
• The ability to mentor others, work collaboratively and contribute to a high-performing team environment

Experience working within the public sector, applying the Protective Security Requirements (PSR), New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM), or other recognised security and assurance frameworks would be advantageous.
