Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Consulting Assignment within Transportation / Logistics

We at WeQuel are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer in Stockholm, where you will become an important part of a device‑focused development team with a focus on connected products and IoT solutions. You will be involved in the development, integration, and maintenance of embedded software running on connected devices, working closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, development, and maintenance of embedded software for connected devices
• Contribution to architecture and implementation of IoT solutions
• Development and optimization of software components using Python and other relevant technologies
• Support for integration between device software, cloud services, and backend systems
• Troubleshooting, debugging, and improvement of system performance and reliabilityCollaboration with engineering, product, and operations teams in an agile environment
• Senior‑level guidance to create stability and structure within the development team
• Participation in code reviews and promotion of software engineering best practices

Requirements

• Extensive experience in embedded software development and IoT/connected device solutions
• Solid programming skills in Python
• Experience with device‑level software, firmware, or embedded systems
• Strong understanding of software architecture, testing, and system integration
• Fluent English, spoken and written
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical challenges
• Previous experience from large‑scale industrial, automotive, transportation, or connected‑product environments (e.g. Scania, Stonebridge, or similar) is highly valued
• Pragmatic, collaborative, solution‑oriented, and calm and structured in approach to complex technical challenges
• Comfortable working in cross‑functional and international teams; willingness to be onsite when required
