About our team

Meet the Safekeeping and Corporate Actions Development team. Our role is to develop and modernise integrations of the IMSecurities Safekeeping & Corporate Action system with the rest of Nordea’s IT landscape. The application is a central part of Nordea’s trading lifecycle and supports safekeeping and corporate actions processes.

The Safekeeping system is a vendor solution. The team focuses on components and microservices around the Safekeeping solution, connected in a decoupled way with Kafka, IBM MQ, REST services and API Gateway to the Safekeeping platform and other Nordea systems. The current landscape includes around 20 microservices, with new services added regularly.

The application is in the roll‑out stage across the Nordics, and the broader team expansion strategy is to increase development capacity with versatile software engineers who can contribute across development, analysis, integration, automation and business‑domain understanding.

What you'll be doing

• Design, implement, and optimize integration layer surrounding IMSecurities, including Domain API, microservices, event‑driven integrations.
• Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD and test automation setup.
• Improve engineering quality through automating regression tests in Java, writing code reviews, and systematic reduction of technical debt.
• Work across the full delivery chain: clarify requirements from business, analyse business and system flows, translate business needs into technical design and specifications, implement, test, deploy and support production solutions.
• Support knowledge sharing and mentoring in the team, especially by helping less experienced developers understand design choices, integration patterns and production‑quality engineering practices.
• Use AI‑assisted development and automation in a responsible way to improve productivity, quality and learning, and help spread practical engineering practices across the team.

Who you are

This role suits you if you're fluent in Java, SQL, and English with 6+ years' enterprise software development experience (10+ for Expert role) as a software developer in large‑scale enterprises.

Your background and skills include

• Java, preferably from large‑scale enterprise systems.
• Spring Boot and Spring Integration.
• SQL and relational databases, preferably Oracle.
• Kafka, IBM MQ, REST API.
• Build and delivery tooling such as Maven, Git and CI/CD pipelines, preferably Bamboo.
• Testing practices using tools such as JUnit and Testcontainers.
• Ability to work with business requirements, system documentation, logs, data flows and production issues.

It would be ideal if you also

• Experience from banking, trading, custody, settlement, corporate actions or another highly regulated domain.
• Experience with cloud‑ready application design.
• Experience mentoring other developers or acting as a technical lead, code reviewer or design sparring partner.
• Practical experience with AI‑assisted development tools, test automation, static code analysis and other productivity‑enhancing engineering practices.
