Summary

Senior full-stack engineer at Moongig, a digital-health talent marketplace connecting healthcare workers with hospitals and clinics in the Philippines. Owns features end-to-end across Vue/React web, Expo mobile, and a Node.js/TypeScript backend with PostgreSQL and GraphQL, plus product discovery, release management, and mentoring.

About Moongig

Moongig is a rapidly growing digital health talent platform transforming the way healthcare professionals and employers connect in the Philippines and abroad. By leveraging technology, we provide healthcare workers with a broad range of job opportunities, while enabling hospitals, clinics, and care providers to access the skilled talent they need to deliver exceptional care. Our mission is to expand access, enhance workforce mobility, and support professional growth across the healthcare ecosystem.

This role is designed for high ownership and high learning. You will have direct exposure to leadership decision-making and will collaborate closely on execution, prioritization, and technical direction.

Our leadership team combines deep healthcare technology operating experience with proven startup scaling capability. You will work directly with Christian Besler, a health-tech veteran with 20+ years experience and degree from Columbia University, and Nathaniel Ricca, a Harvard Business School graduate who previously built and scaled a Y Combinator-backed startup.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Product Engineer to drive high-ownership execution across frontend and backend and to help shape the platform’s technical foundation. You will make architectural contributions, deliver complex features end-to-end from a technical standpoint, improve engineering workflows, and mentor teammates. This role is suited for someone who wants their technical scope to grow over time through demonstrated impact.

Time commitment: This role is expected to consistently exceed 40 hours per week due to the scope of ownership, delivery urgency, and the expectation of demonstrable capability to grow responsibilities over time.

You will be accountable for:

  • Product direction and quality: the direction, quality and results of the features you and your team ship across our mobile and web applications, treated as one connected experience.
  • Release delivery: coordinated releases across mobile and web, including app store and over-the-air updates, release health (errors, crashes, adoption of the latest version), and the user journeys that matter most to our business.
  • Request intake and triage: requests from clients, operations and internal teams come to you. You turn them into problem statements, size them, and run a weekly prioritization with leadership.
  • Product discovery: talk directly to users, clients and our operations team, watch how the product is used, and write the spec before code starts: the problem, the success criteria and the scope.
  • End-to-end delivery: design and build features across frontend, API and database. Ship them with tests, a fitting rollout (staged, behind feature flags) and monitoring in place at launch.
  • Measuring outcomes: define the metric each feature should move, instrument it, and report back after launch. Retire what doesn't work.
  • Product engineering quality: review all product code, set the bar for tests and change size, and make sure what ships is safe for the data it touches: personal data, payments and client-to-client access.
  • Technical leadership: Mentor engineers and serve as escalation for complex engineering decisions and incidents

You will:

  • Decide: implementation and technical design within the product; scope and sequencing of an initiative once its priority is set; code quality standards; engineering best practices within the team.
  • Recommend: roadmap priorities and trade-offs to leadership; build versus buy for product features; technical debt versus new features on the product side.

What we're looking for (must-haves):

  • 5+ years building production applications across the stack, including 2+ years owning features from problem definition through post-launch results
  • Strong proficiency in:
    • Vue.js, React, or similar
    • Expo SDK and Expo Router
    • Node.js and TypeScript
    • PostgreSQL, GraphQL
    • Backend architectures and APIs
  • Proficient in system design so that all the technologies, tools, and data decisions made are aligned and scalable
  • Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, and application security
  • Experience with mobile and web development
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and deployment best practices
  • Experience mentoring developers or leading technical initiatives
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Helpful but not required:

  • Previous startup experience
  • Experience in healthcare technology or regulated environments
  • Experience in AI integration
  • Experience working on marketplace platforms or two-sided platforms
