Senior Full Stack Engineer - (AI enablement) Lifecycle
Summary
Senior full-stack engineer at IG Group embedding AI into the software development lifecycle: building internal AI-powered tooling integrated with Jira, GitLab and CI/CD, automating testing and releases, improving observability, and mentoring engineers. Work spans the stack with a strong Java backend focus plus React/React Native.
In this role you will push AI across Lifecycle engineering, building and integrating AI-powered tooling into our development workflow. You’ll own and ship internal tooling that connects AI capabilities with Jira, GitLab, and our CI/CD, while maturing observability and automation. You work across the stack with a strong focus on Java backend systems and modern backend services. You’ll mentor peers, drive AI adoption, and help shape a self-running engineering pipeline.

- Build and maintain internal tooling embedding AI into daily engineering work (coding assistants, AI-generated tests, deployments, defect triage)
- Enhance observability for the AI-assisted pipeline to show tooling activity, outcomes, and gaps
- Identify and automate manual steps in coding, testing, and release processes
- Divide work into small, releasable pieces for continuous delivery
- Collaborate with a product owner to ground developments in real delivery
- Foster ongoing improvements and AI adoption as part of delivering value
- Integrate AI into the testing pipeline (exploratory test generation, defect clustering, flaky-test detection, smarter test prioritisation)
- Evaluate and roll out LLM-based developer tools (e.g., Claude Code) and integrate safely with Jira, Confluence, and GitLab
- Define and refine standards for responsible AI use in SDLC (data handling, prompt hygiene, guardrails)
- Mentor less experienced engineers on AI tooling usage
- Coordinate with security and compliance to meet IG’s regulatory and data-handling requirements
- Track metrics (cycle time, defect escape rate, test coverage, delivery turnaround) and iterate based on data
- Extensive Software Engineer background with strong production systems judgment
- Experience across the stack (front-end React / React Native or strong Java/backend)
- Fluency in test-driven development and pair programming
- Ownership of features or systems from design to production
- Interest in heavy automation and removing manual steps
- Experience evaluating or using LLM-based developer tools in practice
