Senior Full Stack Engineer (React/Node.js)

About the Role

Our client, a fast-growing e-commerce platform located in East London, Eastern Cape , is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer proficient in React and Node.js. This role is central to developing and enhancing user-facing features and backend services that drive the company's online business. You will play a key part in the entire development lifecycle, from conceptualization to deployment, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and robust web applications. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement user-facing features using React.js.
• Build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Node.js code for the backend.
• Develop and manage robust APIs and microservices.
• Integrate front-end components with server-side logic.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and performance.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers and other developers to create seamless user experiences.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural discussions.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in full-stack web development.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and experience with modern front-end frameworks, particularly React.js.
• Proven experience developing backend services using Node.js and its ecosystem (e.g., Express.js).
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Familiarity with state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Context API) and component-based architecture.
• Understanding of asynchronous programming, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
