As a Senior Full Stack Engineer at Shamaazi, you’ll play a key role in building and evolving the systems that power our products and support our mission. You’ll take ownership of delivering high-quality features end-to-end, working across the stack to solve meaningful, real-world problems. You’ll build the platform primitives and integration layers that power our product suite; designing APIs, event flows, and shared services that enable multiple products to scale reliably. You’ll work closely with product engineers to define clean contracts between backend systems and frontend experiences, making pragmatic decisions that balance delivery speed with system resilience. You’ll join a small, remote-first, product-driven team with real influence, helping strengthen core systems while supporting the platform’s continued evolution.

Key Responsibilities Own outcomes end-to-end: Lead features from concept to production across backend and frontend systems, including deployment, reliability, and security considerations, ensuring they deliver measurable user and product impact. Balance pace with quality: Make informed trade-offs between speed, reliability, and long-term maintainability, progressively evolving systems to meet future product and platform needs. Strengthen core product journeys: Enhance key flows such as donations, identity, payments, and recurring giving, reducing friction, improving reliability, and supporting scalable growth. Shape pragmatic architecture: Influence design decisions for APIs, event flows, and shared services across products, ensuring systems are maintainable, testable, deployable, and developer-friendly, while avoiding over-engineering. Build for future growth: Design and implement reusable backend services, clean interfaces, and scalable architecture to support mobile experiences, personalisation, notifications, and evolving payment mechanisms. Set the engineering bar: Uphold strong engineering practices through clean, well-tested code and thoughtful, efficient code reviews, while applying system thinking and solving complex problems effectively. Lift the team: Mentor junior engineers, share context early, and unblock delivery through hands‑on collaboration. Partner cross‑functionally: Collaborate with product and design to define solutions, align on trade‑offs, and deliver outcomes with clarity and speed. Operate with autonomy: Own work independently while keeping the team aligned through clear updates, decisions, and early risk signals. Who You Are You’re an experienced full stack engineer (4–7+ years) who thrives in fast‑paced, collaborative environments and: Takes ownership of your work and delivers end-to-end impact Contributes thoughtfully to technical discussions and trade-offs Balances delivery speed with long‑term maintainability and system reliability Continuously learns new domains and technologies with a growth mindset Works effectively with product, design, and remote engineering teams Technical Experience You’ll bring 4-7+ years building production software with strong experience in; Full Stack delivery: Building and shipping features across backend and frontend, from implementation to production Backend development: Building services in Type Script (Node.js) (or similar backend language with willingness to work primarily in Type Script) Frontend development: Building user‑facing application in React and modern web patterns AWS infrastructure: Operating serverless and containerised architectures in production API design: Creating reliable APIs and integration layers that multiple systems depend on Event‑driven systems: Building asynchronous systems with queues, webhooks, scheduled jobs and background processing Infrastructure as code: Using Terraform, Git Hub Actions, or similar tooling Bonus Payments infrastructure (Stripe, tokenisation, orchestration, reconciliation) Notifications & messaging systems (email, SMS, push) Microservices and distributed systems (service mesh, API gateways, observability) Identity & authentication flows (OAuth, multi‑tenancy) Mobile‑first aware backend design (offline sync, payload optimisation) Compliance‑sensitive domains (GDPR, financial regulations) You’ll Also Bring A delivery‑first mindset, balancing execution speed with system quality Curiosity and pragmatism when choosing the right architecture for the problem Awareness and appetite for modern and evolving technologies, frameworks and methods across the development space Application Process Recruiter Screen Technical Task Technical / System Design interview (virtual, 1hr) Team fit interview (virtual, 1h) Perks & Benefits
