Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer (GCP)
Summary
Senior developer leading GCP cloud operations, automation, and full-stack development (React/TypeScript, Python) to deploy, secure, and optimize distributed services for Ford’s public cloud infrastructure.
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer with a strong customer operations mindset to support enterprise cloud services running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The successful candidate will lead automation initiatives, improve operational excellence, enhance cloud security, and develop modern cloud-native solutions.
You will work closely with engineering teams, product teams, and cloud providers to improve reliability, observability, cost optimization, and service performance while driving a culture of automation and continuous improvement
- Lead cloud automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevOps initiatives for critical GCP services.
- Manage ServiceNow incidents and requests, ensuring proper prioritization and timely resolution.
- Develop automation solutions and operational runbooks to improve efficiency and reduce cloud costs
- Enhance CI/CD platforms, Tekton pipelines, repository migrations, and subscription lifecycle automation.
- Implement cloud security best practices including vulnerability remediation, managed identities, and secure platform configurations.
- Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications and automation services using Python, Java, React, and related technologies.
- Troubleshoot integrations involving Google Maps Platform APIs and backend services. [
- Develop self-service automation capabilities for cloud health, quota management, governance, and cost optimization.
- Build and maintain observability platforms using Dynatrace or Google Cloud Monitoring solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers through technical knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Participate in on-call support, incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement activities.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve scalability, availability, supportability, and system performance.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in software engineering, cloud operations, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
- Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Strong programming experience in Python.
- Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud automation.
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with cloud monitoring, observability, and incident management practices.
- Understanding of Linux systems, networking concepts, and cloud security practices
Preferred
- GCP Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional-level certifications.
- Experience with Tekton, Dynatrace, React/TypeScript, Java, Spring Boot, or Go.
- Experience supporting large-scale production environments.
