Senior Human Resources Generalist
About Our Organization:
Education Success Foundation is a nonprofit organization equiping our community’s children to succeed in school and in life through our EnCompass and Norman Howard School Programs. We help children to succeed academically by promoting, developing, and supporting academic programs, whole-child supports, capacity building, and professional development.
Put your payroll expertise and people skills to work supporting education.
Education Success Network is seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Generalist to support employees across Education Success Network, EnCompass: Resources for Learning, and The Norman Howard School.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you’ll own the regular payroll process and manage recruiting, onboarding, new employee orientation, and practical employee training. You’ll help employees get accurate answers, support managers through hiring, and make everyday HR processes easier to navigate.
This role offers a broad range of hands-on work and the opportunity to improve how we support our employees. It’s a strong fit for someone who enjoys detailed payroll work, building relationships, and taking responsibility for a process from start to finish.
What you’ll do
- Own payroll processing: Manage regular payroll cycles across multiple entities and pay groups, reviewing timecards, earnings, deductions, and employee changes; reconciling reports; and resolving discrepancies within established approval procedures.
- Manage recruiting: Partner with hiring managers on job postings, phone screens, interview coordination, candidate communications, and approved offers.
- Welcome new employees: Coordinate onboarding, required screenings and credentials, first-day readiness, and new employee orientation.
- Train and support employees: Help employees and managers use Paycom, understand timekeeping and HR procedures, and find answers to everyday questions.
- Keep HR operations organized: Maintain accurate employee records, track required documentation, and support benefits, leave administration, and employee relations under the Director’s guidance.
- Improve our processes: Develop useful job aids, strengthen procedures, and help make HR services consistent and accessible across our locations.
What you’ll bring
- At least five years of hands-on payroll processing experience, including payroll review, reconciliation, and resolving employee payroll issues. General HR experience alone does not meet this requirement.
- Demonstrated experience in recruiting, onboarding, employee training, and new employee orientation.
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing deadlines independently while protecting confidential information.
- Clear communication skills and a responsive, approachable style when working with employees and managers.
- Proficiency with HR and payroll systems, Microsoft Office, and Excel for reviewing data, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Working knowledge of employment and payroll requirements.
- Ability to travel to organizational and program sites approximately 10% of the time, with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Experience we’d welcome
Paycom experience is preferred, but experience with other integrated HR and payroll systems is welcome. Experience with multiple entities or pay groups, nonprofit or education organizations, and SHRM-CP, PHR, or payroll certification are also valued.
What we offer
Organization Employee Benefits:
- 6% employer-match for retirement savings, upon hire.
- Healthcare plans for individuals starting at $0.
- HSA with employer contributions.
- Paid holidays and generous PTO package.
