Job summary | The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, delivery, and continual improvement of the organisation's IT infrastructure platforms and services. The role combines technical leadership, project delivery, and operational support to ensure a secure, resilient, and scalable infrastructure estate that supports current and future business requirements. The successful candidate will lead infrastructure projects from conception through to implementation, working closely with internal stakeholders, third-party suppliers, and members of the IT team. They will provide technical leadership, establish infrastructure standards and best practices, and act as the senior technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues. The role will be based at Metroline Head Office in Cricklewood; however, travel to other company locations may be required. |
Main Responsibilities
| · Design, architect, and implement secure, scalable, and highly available infrastructure solutions. · Develop infrastructure roadmaps aligned with business and technology strategies. · Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to infrastructure services. · Ensure infrastructure designs meet security, compliance and operational requirements. · Lead and deliver infrastructure projects from requirements gathering through design, implementation, testing, documentation, and transition to support. · Produce project plans, technical designs, implementation schedules, risk assessments, and support documentation. · Coordinate project activities with internal teams, external suppliers, and business stakeholders. · Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with agreed business objectives. · Maintain and support the company's core infrastructure platforms, ensuring high availability and performance. · Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents and problems. · Proactively identify and resolve potential service issues before they impact the business. · Implement automation and infrastructure-as-code practices where appropriate. · Monitor platform performance, capacity, and security posture. · Maintain and regularly test Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery solutions. · Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, standards, procedures, and operational runbooks.

Essential Criteria | · Minimum 3 years’ experience in infrastructure engineering, design, and delivery roles. · Proven experience leading complex infrastructure projects · Experience managing enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions. · Strong understanding of networking concepts including LAN, WAN, VLAN, VPN, routing, switching, and firewalls. · Experience with infrastructure security, hardening, and compliance requirements. · Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. · Strong written and verbal communication skills. · Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. · Previous experience within a fast paced environment. · Full manual driving licence (some travel to alternate locations is required) |
Competencies & Skills (Delete those which do not apply) | · Relevant Microsoft Certifications e.g AZ-305, MS-102 or equivalent (desirable) · Cisco/Meraki Switches, Cisco Firepower, Cisco Secure Access (desirable) · Cybersecurity / InfoSec experience or certification (desirable) · Previous experience with Merger & Acquisition, domain migrations and Office365 tenant to tenant migrations highly advantageous · Expected to deal with clients at all levels and backgrounds by phone, email and in person. · Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to develop strong working relationships. · Able to explain technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users. · Being proactive and meet agreed SLA’s and project timelines and budgets. · Strengths in logical analysis, and an ability to think creatively to deliver solutions. · Skills in adapting, multi-tasking and troubleshooting. · Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. · Have a professional and patient manner when supporting users. · Use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines and procedures. · Present a professional image when representing Metroline. |
