Senior/Intermediate DevOps Engineer

First Point Group is hiring on behalf of one of our clients for a Senior/Intermediate DevOps Engineer (AWS) on a 12-month contract.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain security, IT best practices, system configuration, and operational procedures
• Monitor systems using applications, log files, ELK/OpenSearch, and system checks
• Build and migrate PayFast to Kubernetes
• Maintain configuration and build management systems
• Manage database maintenance and implementations
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex server and user-environment issues
• Support CI, testing and release management
• Manage firewall administration, security incidents and patching
• Research and evaluate new technologies
• Work within Agile planning and delivery environments

Requirements:

• AWS Cloud Infrastructure certification is required
• Docker and Kubernetes
• Jenkins and/or GitLab CI
• Scripting/application experience in Bash, Python, PHP, Perl, Java or Go
• Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet or SaltStack
• Experience with Apache, Nginx, FPM and/or Node
• Load balancing experience
• AWS RDS, particularly MariaDB and MySQL
• Redis, MongoDB and other NoSQL, pub/sub and key-value technologies
• Database replication technologies
• Networking knowledge, including OSI and AWS Transit Gateway

Certifications or qualifications such as a Bachelor's degree, RHCE, ISO 27001 or PCI are advantageous but not mandatory.
