Summary

Senior hands-on iOS engineer owning the company's iOS app end to end: architecture, media capture/playback (AVFoundation), offline-first storage and sync, performance, testing, and App Store releases. The app is built in Swift with SwiftUI and UIKit on MVVM, working directly with the backend team and founders.

Compensation: ₹6L – ₹12L

The role

We're hiring a senior, hands-on iOS engineer to own our iOS app end to end: architecture, code quality, reliability and releases. The app is built in Swift with SwiftUI and UIKit on an MVVM architecture. You'll set the app's technical direction, raise the bar on reliability, testing and security, and work directly with the backend team and the founders.

What you'll work on

You'll own the app's engineering across these areas: • Media features. Build and maintain reliable audio, video and image capture, playback, processing and upload that hold up offline and across app restarts. • Offline data and storage. Design on-device persistence and sync so the app works without a connection and never loses user data. • Performance. Keep memory use, launch time, scrolling and battery impact in check, especially in media-heavy screens. • Architecture. Evolve the app's architecture as it grows, keeping code modular, consistent and testable. • Quality. Own automated testing, CI/CD and code standards. • Security and privacy. Keep user data secure and handled responsibly. • Networking and sync. Improve networking, data sync and real-time features in partnership with the backend team. • Modernization. Keep the codebase current with modern Swift, SwiftUI and concurrency practices. • Platform features. Ship features such as push notifications, accessibility and localization. • Releases. Manage builds, signing, TestFlight and App Store releases.

Required experience

• 4+ years of professional iOS development in Swift, with apps shipped to the App Store. • Strong SwiftUI, plus enough UIKit to maintain and migrate a hybrid codebase: SwiftUI/UIKit interop and programmatic Auto Layout. • MVVM architecture, including refactoring large view models into smaller, testable units. • Swift Concurrency: async/await, actors, @MainActor and Task cancellation. • Media on iOS with AVFoundation, AVKit and PhotosUI: ◦ Audio recording and playback, audio session configuration and interruption handling. ◦ Video capture, playback, compression and export. ◦ Image capture, picking, resizing, downsampling and caching. ◦ Uploading and downloading large media files efficiently and resumably. • On-device storage and offline-first design: ◦ SwiftData and Core Data, including schema migrations. ◦ SQLite (directly or via a library such as GRDB), the file system and the Keychain, and knowing when to use each. ◦ Persistent queues, retries with backoff, idempotency, conflict resolution and recovery after the app is killed. • Memory management and performance: ARC, retain cycles, memory pressure with large media, and profiling with Instruments (Allocations, Leaks, Time Profiler). • Networking with URLSession, REST/JSON with Codable, token-based auth, and background URLSession transfers. • APNs push notifications and notification extensions. • Integrating third-party SDKs such as payments, crash reporting and customer support tools. • Xcode, CocoaPods and Swift Package Manager, code signing and provisioning, and releasing through TestFlight and the App Store.

Nice to have

• Experience with apps that handle sensitive user data: Keychain, secure storage and privacy regulations such as GDPR. • Setting up iOS CI/CD with GitHub Actions, fastlane or Xcode Cloud. • Testing with XCTest, Swift Testing and snapshot tests. • Real-time messaging: WebSockets or chat sync architectures. • Swift 6 strict concurrency and the Observation framework. • Payments and subscriptions, including StoreKit 2. • Accessibility, localization and privacy-respecting product analytics. • Working closely with a backend team on API contracts. • Comfort with AI-assisted development workflows.

How to apply

Send your CV and links to apps you've shipped on the App Store. Include a short note on a reliability, offline-sync or media handling problems you've solved on iOS.
