Senior Business Analyst partners with government stakeholders to shape proposals, define outcomes, and guide IT investments through governance, focusing on cloud, infrastructure, and automation.

The Role
A federal government agency needs a Senior Business Analyst to help business areas shape proposals, define outcomes, and navigate its investment pipeline and governance processes. This is not a purely technical BA role. You'll work across business, enabling functions and technical specialists to connect strategic intent with practical delivery, spanning cloud, infrastructure, endpoint management, automation and collaboration platforms.

Key Duties

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and system owners to translate requirements into strategic work packages
  • Collate and analyse data to provide clear, evidence-based options for decision-making
  • Use process modelling and analysis to define needs and opportunities, focused on business outcomes
  • Guide business areas in shaping proposals through the investment pipeline and governance processes
  • Facilitate prioritisation discussions and help stakeholders weigh trade-offs
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships internally and externally
About You
  • 3-5 years experience as a Business Analyst in a program, project or portfolio function, delivering under limited guidance
  • Proven ability to engage stakeholders across business and technical teams to elicit needs and agree priorities
  • Strong facilitation skills, guiding discussions and helping teams land on clear outcomes
  • Skilled at translating between business and technical perspectives so solutions stay fit for purpose
  • Track record supporting capability uplift or process improvement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, comfortable building trust in complex environments
Contract Details
This is a contract position based onsite in Canberra, ACT, running from an ASAP start through to 30 June 2027, with a 12 month extension option. Standard hours are up to 40 per week. A Baseline security clearance is required, or you must be able to obtain one.
