Senior Java Backend Engineer
Summary
Senior Java Backend Engineer building and operating IAM/identity services for a platform providing secure product access to millions of users. Day-to-day: Java microservices, Keycloak customization, auth flows (OAuth 2.0/OIDC/SAML/JWT), Kubernetes/Docker deployments on AWS/Azure, plus production observability and incident response.
We are hiring Senior Java Backend Engineer for Sweden.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Java Backend Engineer to develop IAM capabilities for a platform providing secure product access for millions of users. The role centres on identity services that must be reliable and scalable, with security treated as a core principle throughout. It combines hands‑on backend engineering with operational responsibility for the services in production.
Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, customize and operate identity services .
- Implement and maintain authentication and authorization flows .
- Drive security best practices .
- Handle observability and incident response for the services in production.
Technical Skills & Expertise:
- Strong experience in Java backend development , including developing microservices and running them in production, and demonstrated experience in the design and production operation of distributed systems .
- Demonstrated hands‑on experience deploying Keycloak in real‑world environments, including customizations using SPIs and providers .
- In‑depth understanding of JWT, SAML, OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect , alongside a security‑first approach and experience supporting audits and compliance requirements.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines and at least one major cloud platform, either AWS or Azure .
- Solid database skills , for example in PostgreSQL .
- Familiarity with caching used in Keycloak deployments, such as Infinispan or Redis .
- Experience with CIAM at scale , covering customer identity, identity resolution or account deduplication (Advantage).
- Experience with WebAuthn/FIDO2/passkeys, Zero Trust architectures or PKI (Advantage).
- Experience with event-driven architectures , such as Kafka, and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry (Advantage).
Soft Skills:
- Ownership of services from design through deployment.
- Collaboration with product, security and platform teams.
