Senior Java Developer - Global Investment Bank - Hong Kong

Our client, a global investment bank, are seeking an Equities OMS Java Developer to design, develop, and support high-performance trading and order lifecycle functionality. You will work closely with trading, quant/strategy, business analysts, QA, and infrastructure teamsto deliver reliable, low-latency order routing, execution tracking, and operational tooling across equity markets.

The role:

• Develop and maintain Equities OMS components in Java, including order lifecycle management (e.g., create/modify/cancel), state transitions, and reconciliation flows.
• Build/consume market data and execution interfaces (e.g., FIX and internal APIs), ensuring correct message handling and robust error recovery.
• Implement and optimize latency-sensitive services and workflows (threading/concurrency, backpressure, efficient data structures)
• Create unit, integration, and system tests; improve test automation coverage and reliability.
• Diagnose production issues and drive resolution using logs, metrics, tracing, and post-incident reviews.
• Contribute to design documents, technical standards, and code reviews.
• Support release activities including troubleshooting, regression testing, and deployment readiness.

What you offer:

• 5+ years professional experience in Java or C# development.
• Strong understanding of OMS concepts: order states, idempotency, message sequencing, and reconciliation.
• Experience with FIX (preferably FIX 4.x) or other trading protocols; ability to map business events to protocol messages.
• Solid knowledge of concurrency and performance tuning in Java (e.g., thread pools, synchronization, GC awareness).
• Proficiency with SQL and relational data modeling.
• Experience with CI/CD and test frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Mockito, integration test tooling).
• Familiarity with Linux environment, debugging, and operational support practices.
• Experience in equities trading (exchange/venue connectivity, order types, corporate actions awareness).
