Senior java developer

An established organisation within the financial services sector is looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to join its technology team on a 12-month contract. This is a hybrid opportunity based in Sandton, offering the chance to work on enterprise-scale applications that support critical business operations.

You will play a key role in the full software development lifecycle, partnering with cross‑functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high‑performing solutions while contributing to technical excellence across the development team.

Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Java applications. Build scalable RESTful APIs and microservices. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver business solutions. Develop clean, secure, and maintainable code following best practices. Troubleshoot, optimise, and support production applications. Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical design. Mentor junior developers and promote engineering excellence. Ensure solutions are delivered in line with Agile and SDLC methodologies. Job Experience & Skills Required / Ideal Candidate Profile Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Informatics, or a related field. Experience Minimum 10 years' commercial Java development experience. Enterprise application development experience. Banking or financial services experience is advantageous. System Design experience is beneficial. Technical Skills Java, Spring Boot, Angular, Node JS Microservices, REST APIs, SOA Docker, Kafka, Hibernate JBoss, Tomcat, Maven MSSQL, Nexus, Team City Agile & SDLC Advantageous Camunda or TIBCO AMX Drools Rules Engine AWS or Azure Cloud
