Senior Java Engineer (Ops Tech) - Leading Investment Bank

Our client is a leading global financial services firm delivering world-class investment banking, securities, investment management, and wealth management solutions. Their technology teams support mission-critical business platforms across global markets, enabling operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation initiatives. On their behalf, we are seeking experienced Senior Java Engineers to join their Asia Operations Technology team, supporting enterprise applications and platforms across the region.

As a Senior Java Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting business-critical applications that enable operational workflows, regulatory initiatives, and business expansion across Asia. Working closely with business stakeholders, architects, QA teams, and global technology teams, you will build scalable backend solutions, modernise enterprise platforms, and deliver high-quality technology solutions within an Agile development environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Backend Application Development: Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise Java applications using Core Java, Spring-based frameworks, REST APIs, and SOAP services to support mission-critical operational platforms.
• Full Application Lifecycle Ownership: Take ownership of the complete software development lifecycle, including requirement analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, production support, monitoring, and incident resolution.
• Enterprise Platform Modernisation: Build and enhance scalable applications supporting business operations, regulatory requirements, and process improvement initiatives across Asia markets.
• Database & Data Management: Develop and optimise database solutions using Sybase, PostgreSQL, and DB2, ensuring efficient data processing, application performance, and data integrity.
• CI/CD & Application Deployment: Design and maintain automated build, testing, and deployment pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub, and modern DevOps practices. Support application deployments across Linux environments.
• System Integration & Web Services: Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and SOAP-based web services to enable seamless integration across enterprise applications.
• Production Support & Operational Excellence: Troubleshoot application issues, improve system reliability, and collaborate with operations teams to maintain high availability of business-critical platforms.
• Cross-Regional Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts, QA teams, developers, and technology stakeholders across Asia to deliver reliable and scalable solutions.

Qualifications & Technical Skills:

• 3–5+ years of hands‑on Java development experience, with proven experience delivering enterprise backend solutions.
• Strong proficiency in Core Java, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and n-tier application architecture.
• Solid experience developing enterprise applications using Java, REST APIs, SOAP web services, and backend integration frameworks.
• Strong SQL skills with hands‑on experience working with databases such as Sybase, PostgreSQL, and DB2.
• Experience working with Linux environments, including shell scripting and application deployment activities.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, or similar DevOps platforms.
• Experience supporting application deployments, troubleshooting production issues, and improving system performance.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within global technology teams.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills:

• Exposure to cloud platforms, GenAI solutions, Power Platform, UiPath, or other automation technologies.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, or modern cloud-native application practices.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and application monitoring concepts such as Prometheus/Grafana.
• Previous experience working within banking, financial services, or other mission-critical enterprise technology environments.
