EPAM is seeking a skilled Senior Java Software Developer with Kafka and Flink to join an established engineering team delivering strategic regulatory reporting solutions for a top-tier global investment bank. The platform sits at the heart of the bank's operations processing millions of messages daily under strict SLAs to ensure complete, accurate, and timely reporting to global regulators.
You'll collaborate with distributed teams across Krakow, Wroc2aw, and London a community of open-minded, highly motivated professionals who genuinely care about quality. Teams select the methodologies that work best for them, whether Kanban, Scrum, or TDD.
The technology landscape includes Java 8, Groovy, Spring, Spring Boot, Oracle, Docker, Kafka, Flink, and in-house frameworks. Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Java-based applications powering regulatory data processing
- Design infrastructure and network topology solutions for innovative projects
- Apply best development practices to produce high-quality, maintainable code
- Provide architectural expertise and technical guidance to team members
- Lead technical design discussions and ensure development methodology adherence
- Build relationships with business users and facilitate requirements gathering
- Investigate and resolve production issues; maintain a stable production environment
Requirements
- Experience designing and implementing Java backend applications (Java 8, Spring, Spring Boot)
- Knowledge of database design and SQL, including query optimization
- Solid Object-Oriented analysis and design skills 39e design patterns, clean code principles, and concepts such as OOD, TDD, BDD, DDD, CI/CD
- Proficiency with SDLC tools: IntelliJ IDEA, Git, Gradle, Maven, Jenkins, JIRA
- Familiarity with debugging and performance tuning; understanding of deploying, maintaining, and monitoring complex Java applications
- Knowledge of modern technical architectures and pragmatic application of their benefits
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good written and verbal English communication skills
Nice to have
- Experience with GitHub, ELK Stack, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Spring Batch, Spring Integration
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures and stream processing
- Experience with other JVM languages such as Groovy
- Hands-on practice with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP)
- Exposure to UNIX/Linux environments with shell scripting
- Experience or genuine interest in financial products and regulatory reporting
