Senior Maintenance & Reliability Manager

We are seeking a Senior Maintenance & Reliability Manager to provide enterprise-critical leadership for maintenance, asset management, and reliability across a large-scale manufacturing operation.

In this highly visible leadership role, you will shape the long-term reliability strategy for critical production assets, lead a large multi-shift maintenance organization, and ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the facility. Your impact will directly influence plant performance, customer service, employee safety, and financial results.

What You’ll Work On

Lead Reliability & Asset Management Strategy

Own plant-wide equipment reliability, uptime, and performance for highly automated manufacturing and support systems. Develop and execute lifecycle strategies that include preventive and predictive maintenance programs, asset replacement planning, and obsolescence management to ensure long-term manufacturing capability and regulatory compliance.

Inspire and Develop High-Performing Teams

Provide leadership for a large multi-shift maintenance organization of 45 - 55 employees, including skilled trades professionals, supervisors, planners, and technical specialists. Build a culture centered on safety, accountability, employee development, engagement, and continuous improvement.

Drive Financial Performance

Manage and optimize an annual maintenance and reliability budget of approximately $10 million, including labor, materials, spare parts, contractor services, and project expenditures. Utilize data-driven decision-making to prioritize investments, control costs, and maximize asset performance while maintaining compliance and operational integrity.

Ensure Compliance and Audit Readiness

Maintain full accountability for maintenance-related compliance requirements and successful audit outcomes. Partner closely with Quality and EHS teams to ensure adherence to FDA, SQF, GMP, OSHA, and customer standards, while leading investigations and corrective actions when needed.

Manage Strategic Partnerships

Serve as the primary site contact for contractors, OEMs, vendors, and service providers. Oversee contractor performance, negotiate service agreements, and ensure all external work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with site requirements.

Lead Critical Maintenance and Risk Mitigation Efforts

Guide the organization through safety-critical maintenance activities, major equipment failures, and high-risk operational events. Make sound business decisions that balance production needs, safety requirements, regulatory standards, and financial impact.

Execute Major Site Initiatives

Lead annual maintenance planning, reliability improvement initiatives, capital projects, and complex equipment repairs. Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and EHS to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline required

  • Advanced technical or leadership training preferred

  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered

  • 8+ years of manufacturing support experience

  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience managing large maintenance, reliability, or skilled trades organizations

  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment

  • Proven success leading complex maintenance operations, plant shutdowns, and large-scale capital or expense projects

  • Demonstrated accountability for regulatory compliance, audits, and corrective action programs

  • Strong knowledge of FDA, SQF, GMP, OSHA, and maintenance management system requirements

  • Expertise in reliability-centered maintenance, asset management, and preventive/predictive maintenance strategies

  • Advanced financial acumen with experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets

  • Strong project management, contractor management, and strategic planning skills

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making capabilities

The base pay for this position is

$113,300.00 – $226,700.00
