Senior Manager, Category Expert, FCHW
Position Summary
This position owns one L1 sub-category vertical end-to-end and turns L0 strategy into executed results across all sellers. Sr. Managers own the highest-GMV L1s and provide commercial leadership on the team; Managers own smaller-GMV L1s and execute independently with a clear development path to Sr. Manager as the book grows.

Own the L1 Plan
· Own the L1 sub-category plan - targets, whitespace, and assortment-expansion roadmap.
· Size whitespace and assortment gaps; identify in-demand SKUs from U.S. store & Marketplace signals; produce data-backed inputs for assortment-expansion pitches.
Run Omni-Merchant Execution
· Manage the Omni-Merchant flow within the L1 - triage demand, assign seller identification, ensure delivery by working closely with seller-facing teams.
· Confirm onboarding completion back to HQ on time.
Supply & Catalog Intelligence
· Maintain L1 supplier and assortment intelligence; map supply-chain adjacency; feed insights up to the L0 Director.
· Drive catalog-expansion execution and item-setup / listing-quality guidance; support sellers expanding into adjacent categories their supply chain already supports.
· Use AI: apply AI/GenAI tooling for whitespace & in-demand SKU detection and contribute L1 category & supply knowledge to the AI knowledge bank.
Partner with Seller Teams
· Land playbooks and expansion pitches for the L1 with XFN seller teams (BD / SM).

Requirements & Qualifications (this level)
· Experience - Sr. Manager: 8+ years in category management / merchandising / sourcing; demonstrated ownership of a sizeable category book end-to-end.
· Experience - Manager: 5+ years in category management / merchandising / e-commerce or analytics; ready to own one L1 independently.
· Category & Commercial: Sr. Manager: mastery of a high-GMV L1 with strong negotiation & size-of-prize judgment. Manager: solid category fundamentals and developing commercial judgment.
· Analytics: Advanced GMV / sell-through / whitespace analysis; advanced Excel/Sheets; SQL & BigQuery a strong plus (Manager: exposure a plus).
· AI Tools: Uses AI/GenAI tooling for whitespace & in-demand SKU detection; contributes L1 category & supply knowledge to the AI knowledge bank.
· Execution & Influence: Drives the Omni-Merchant flow without owning sellers; influences BD/SM and U.S. merchants with data-backed narratives. Sr. Manager also mentors Managers.
· Languages: English - professional working proficiency (required); Mandarin - native/fluent (required).
Minimum Qualifications (corporate baseline)
· Bachelor’s degree in business, retail, or related field and 2 years’ experience in category management, pricing, site merchandising, planning, or inventory planning OR 4 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
· Category-ownership or supervisory experience (Sr. Manager).
· E-commerce / marketplace category experience.
· Experience with the assigned L1/L0 supply ecosystem.
Travel
· Travels domestically to and from multiple facilities or work-sites; occasional international travel may be required.
