Job Purpose: As Senior Manager, Editorial (Editor in Chief) at the Esports Foundation, you own the editorial vision, voice, and standards across EF, the Esports World Cup (EWC), and the Esports Nations Cup (ENC). You are responsible for shaping and guiding editorial strategy to ensure messaging is clear, compelling, consistent, and aligned with brand and product objectives. As the editorial lead, you define narratives, storylines, and tone of voice that resonate with diverse global audiences and build long-term brand affinity and trust.
Duties and Responsibilities
Define and own the editorial strategy across EF, EWC, and ENC, ensuring consistency in tone, messaging, and style across all written and editorial content.
Establish and maintain editorial guidelines, standards, and governance to ensure quality, accuracy, and brand alignment across platforms.
Own editorial storytelling frameworks, narratives, and priorities, highlighting key moments, players, clubs, and storylines across tournaments and products.
Lead editorial planning for major initiatives and moments, including website content, feature articles, interviews, and supporting social editorial.
Oversee execution of editorial content through internal teams and external contributors, ensuring clarity of briefs, quality of output, and timely delivery.
Manage and guide freelance writers, journalists, and contributors, ensuring alignment with editorial direction and brand standards.
Partner closely with Content Production, Broadcast, Fan Marketing, and Social Media teams to align editorial narratives across formats and channels.
Ensure editorial content supports fan engagement, community building, and the long-term positioning of EF and its flagship properties.
Identify and develop high-impact features, interviews, and long-form storytelling that deepen fan connection and elevate the ecosystem.
Oversee SEO and discoverability strategy for editorial content, ensuring best practices are applied without compromising editorial quality.
Track editorial performance and audience insights to inform planning, prioritization, and continuous improvement.
Own and manage the editorial budget, balancing quality, scale, and efficiency across internal and external resources.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, media or equivalent.
8+ years of relevant experience in editorial, journalism, or content management, ideally in esports or gaming.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proven experience defining and overseeing editorial strategies that align with brand objectives.
Strong storytelling skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives around events, players, and themes in the esports and gaming world.
Expertise in developing content guidelines and editorial standards to ensure high quality and brand alignment.
Experience leading content planning and execution for large-scale initiatives, including website articles, social media content, and newsletters.
Ability to oversee SEO-friendly content creation to enhance discoverability and organic reach.
Proven ability to manage freelance contributors, fostering an environment of creativity and alignment with brand goals.
Very good written and verbal communication skills in English.
