Senior Marketing Manager

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.

So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. The Role

The B2B Marketing Team is a critical driver of growth for Square. This role is to lead a small but mighty team to drive growth for the Japanese market. Your role will drive growth through supporting our sales GTM motions, including telesales, field sales, resellers, and partnerships.

You will ensure excellent execution against different channels such as events, social, content marketing, media and partnerships. You will be responsible for driving growth in sales acquisition and revenue metrics. The role requires strong cross-team collaboration and a generalist knowledge of B2B marketing, in particular lead generation.

This position offers a unique opportunity to take Japan at Square to the next level. You will work with other market leaders to drive a locally relevant strategy, establish priorities and achieve measurable outcomes.

You Will

• Ensure the Japan marketing plan aligns with the country strategy and local growth opportunities.
• Deliver a new plan for marketing in Japan and set priorities for the team accordingly.
• Execute a number of campaigns and projects, both digital and in-person.
• Lead a small team, including rigorous performance management against company priorities and culture.
• Partner closely with other disciplines such as finance, sales and partnerships. You’ll ensure these groups are rowing in the same direction against a cohesive set of priorities.
• Clearly communicate marketing’s contribution to the business, particularly sales pipeline health.
• Represent your work in front of executive leadership.
• Define, track and adhere to marketing KPIs, budgets and ROI.
• Ensure Japan marketing is innovative and that the team stays abreast of the latest marketing technologies to scale impact, leveraging AI in particular to achieve this.

You Have

• 10+ years of related experience.
• 2+ years in marketing leadership, with people management experience.
• Proven experience leading with significant budgets and driving results in complex B2B environments
• A strong analytical mindset with a deep understanding of marketing measurement and lead generation.
• Tangible experience leveraging AI to drive outsized impact.
• Fluency in both Japanese and English.
