Salary: $90,220 – $145,000 annually

Position Overview
Bright Vision Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong C#/.NET development experience and a DoD background to support software products within a military aviation mission planning enterprise.
This position focuses on analyzing, designing, developing, testing, and supporting mission-critical software applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong software engineering background within the Department of Defense (DoD) environment and be comfortable working with technical teams, customers, and end users.
The selected candidate will take ownership of assigned applications, become a Subject Matter Expert (SME), and contribute to software architecture, requirements analysis, development, system testing, debugging, modeling, simulation, and technical recommendations.
Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret software requirements specifications.
  • Design, develop, and maintain software components and user interfaces.
  • Perform software requirements analysis, system modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Review system architecture and recommend appropriate development and support tools.
  • Develop software solutions supporting hardware and technical service products.
  • Perform system-level and unit-level testing.
  • Troubleshoot and debug software applications and resolve technical issues.
  • Take ownership of assigned applications and serve as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions.
  • Provide technical analysis, recommendations, and solutions to development teams and customers.
  • Represent the software development team in technical meetings as required.
  • Develop and present technical documentation, recommendations, and meeting materials.
  • Collaborate with other development teams, customers, and software users to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Work independently while contributing effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Support the complete software development lifecycle from requirements through development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Contribute to the performance, reliability, maintainability, and continuous improvement of mission-critical applications.
Required Qualifications – MUST HAVE
Candidates must meet ALL of the following requirements:
  • Active Secret Security Clearance – REQUIRED
  • U.S. Citizenship – REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, or related field – REQUIRED
  • 10–12 years of software engineering/development experience within a DoD environment – REQUIRED
  • Strong experience with C# and .NET
  • Experience developing Microsoft Windows software applications.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • C++
    • .NET Framework
    • Windows Forms / WinForms
    • Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)
    • HTML5
    • JavaScript
    • TypeScript
    • Angular
    • React
  • Strong software debugging and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with software requirements analysis, design, development, and testing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical designs, processes, ideas, and recommendations clearly to technical teams and customers.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with development teams, customers, and end users.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with automated unit testing frameworks such as NUnit, xUnit, or MSTest.
  • Experience with Git and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience supporting military aviation or defense applications.
  • Knowledge of military aviation mission planning requirements and processes.
  • Experience with systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Experience reviewing software/system architecture.
  • Experience working with mission-critical DoD software systems.
  • Experience collaborating directly with government customers and end users.
What You'll Accomplish in Your First 90–120 Days
During the first 90–120 days, the successful candidate will:
  • Gain a strong understanding of the existing software applications and military aviation mission planning environment.
  • Analyze existing software requirements and system architecture.
  • Become familiar with the development, testing, and support tools used by the team.
  • Contribute to software design and development activities.
  • Perform debugging and system/unit testing.
  • Begin taking ownership of assigned application components.
  • Establish relationships with development teams, customers, and end users.
  • Provide technical analysis and recommendations related to application performance, design, and development.
  • Progress toward becoming a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned applications
Ideal Candidate
  • The ideal candidate is a Senior Software Engineer with 10–12 years of DoD software development experience, strong C#/.NET expertise, and an Active Secret Security Clearance.
    Candidates with experience supporting military aviation, defense, mission planning, or other mission-critical DoD applications are highly encouraged to apply.
