We are a US-based Managed Service Provider (MSP) looking for a senior-level Network Engineer to support ongoing network and infrastructure projects across multiple client environments.
We need an experienced project engineer who can independently assess environments, plan changes, configure infrastructure, execute migrations, troubleshoot complex issues, and maintain clear technical documentation.
The engineer must be available during US business hours and for scheduled after-hours or weekend maintenance windows when required.

Current Project Scope
One of the upcoming projects is a network infrastructure migration involving approximately 100 or more network devices.
The project includes:
Arista core switch migration
Configuration and migration of an MLAG switch pair
Hub-and-spoke network topology
Core and access switch migration
BGP and dynamic routing configuration
Migration of virtual routers to physical routers
Review and validation of the existing network configuration
Development of migration, testing, and rollback plans
Coordination of production cutover activities
Post-migration validation and troubleshooting
Creation and updating of network documentation
Migration of Linux virtual machines from an existing Proxmox environment to company-managed servers
The engineer will also support other network architecture, migration, implementation, and troubleshooting projects across client environments.

Responsibilities
Review current network architecture, configurations, and dependencies
Identify technical requirements, risks, and potential migration issues
Develop detailed implementation, validation, testing, and rollback plans
Configure core switches, access switches, routers, VLANs, trunks, and routing
Implement and troubleshoot Arista MLAG configurations
Configure and troubleshoot BGP and other dynamic routing protocols
Perform network migrations during approved maintenance windows
Validate connectivity, routing, redundancy, failover, and network performance
Troubleshoot complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 issues
Support network architecture and infrastructure improvement projects
Coordinate with internal teams, client contacts, vendors, and other engineers
Maintain accurate network diagrams, technical documentation, and project updates
Record completed work according to company processes
Take ownership of assigned technical projects from assessment through completion

Senior-level experience with enterprise routing and switching
Strong hands-on experience with Arista switches and Arista EOS
Strong experience with Cisco switching and routing
Practical experience configuring and troubleshooting MLAG
Strong understanding of BGP and dynamic routing
Experience with core and access switch migrations
Strong knowledge of VLANs, trunking, LACP, spanning tree, redundancy, and high availability
Experience planning and executing production network cutovers
Ability to create implementation, validation, testing, and rollback plans
Strong Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting skills
Experience working independently on complex infrastructure projects
Clear written and spoken English
Availability during US time zones

Preferred Experience
Experience working in a managed services environment
Experience supporting multiple client environments
Experience migrating virtual routers to physical routers
Proxmox administration or migration experience
Linux server and virtual machine migration experience
Experience with hub-and-spoke network designs
Experience producing network diagrams and technical documentation
Relevant certifications such as CCNP Enterprise, CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure, Arista ACE, or equivalent practical experience

Engagement Model
Remote contract position
Part-time and on-demand
Ongoing project-based cooperation
Work assigned based on active client projects and technical requirements
Combination of planned project work, migrations, architecture changes, and advanced troubleshooting
Flexible workload depending on project schedules
Long-term cooperation with the engineering team

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on senior engineer who can take ownership of complex network projects and work independently with limited supervision.
You should be comfortable reviewing an unfamiliar environment, identifying missing information, asking the right technical questions, developing a practical plan, executing changes, and resolving issues during implementation or cutover.
You should also be comfortable working across different client environments, switching between projects, communicating clearly, documenting all changes, and providing reliable technical updates.
