Senior Network Engineer

Salary: AUD 140 - 180 per hour

Location: Sydney, NSW (Full time Onsite Role)
Contract: Initial 6 Months + 2 x 6 Month Extension Options
Security Clearance: Current NV1 Security Clearance is Mandatory
Citizenship: Australian Citizenship Mandatory


This is an onsite position based in Sydney. Applicants must be willing and available to work onsite. Candidates seeking remote or hybrid would not be considered.

We are seeking an experienced 2x Network Engineers to join a high-performing team to support an office relocation project for a Federal Government Agency.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise network infrastructure solutions.
• Install, configure and maintain network hardware including Cisco switches, routers, wireless access points and firewalls.
• Monitor network performance and ensure optimal availability and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network incidents, faults and outages.
• Administer and maintain network security technologies including firewalls, VPNs and associated security controls.
• Perform network upgrades, patching and technology refresh activities.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams and configuration records.
• Provide technical support and advice for network-related issues.
• Ensure network services comply with relevant standards, policies and security requirements.
• Contribute to infrastructure projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to deliver quality outcomes.

Essential skills and experience required

• Configuring, managing, troubleshooting and maintaining Cisco switching infrastructure within enterprise environments.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in IT infrastructure and networking, including:
  • IP network design and implementation
  • Network troubleshooting and support
  • Wi-Fi configuration and management
  • Fibre optic infrastructure
  • Switching and routing technologies
  • Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls
• Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to commence immediately or within a short timeframe.

Highly Desirable

• Previous experience delivering network infrastructure solutions as part of an office relocation project.
• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Experience working within Government or highly regulated environments.
