About The Role
The Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer has the responsibility for leading the delivery and technical oversight of nuclear safety across projects and programmes, ensuring requirements are embedded into the infrastructure lifecycle as well as providing expert assurance and consultation for other business units within Malin Group on Nuclear Safety matters. This includes understanding, and where necessary, engagement with regulatory bodies such as ONR to manage due process. The Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer will also be involved in the development and review of Nuclear Safety Cases, bridging engineering and commercial teams to mitigate risks and support business development opportunities across the Nuclear domain.
Skills And Experience
We are seeking a technically capable and diligent individual with strong problem-solving and communication skills. The successful candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision, apply innovative thinking to complex challenges, and deliver tasks and projects safely, accurately, and on time. Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues at all levels, clients, external stakeholders, and regulators. Practical experience in nuclear infrastructure projects or programmes is desirable. A clean driving licence is also required for site visits and business travel where applicable.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2nd Class degree BEng or higher in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or relevant engineering subject at 2nd class level minimum or equivalent OR lesser degrees subject to proven experience
- Experienced and competent in Nuclear Safety Case development, review, and regulatory liaison
- Commenced internal engineering training scheme or demonstrate equivalent professional development (e.g. Chartered Engineer status preferred)

Malin Marine Consultants are based at the iconic South Rotunda building on the South bank of the River Clyde. This is a hybrid role where home working is available.
