SOCOTEC has an opening for a Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer in Tucson, Arizona.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with marketing and business development.
- Prepare geotechnical proposals, including scope of services and proposed fees.
- Assist in the compilation of RFQ/RFP documentation.
- Respond to technical questions for solicitations during pre-bidding and bidding phases of projects.
- Prepare and manage/oversee geotechnical projects.
- Prepare geotechnical evaluation reports.
- Attend project meetings with project stakeholders as needed.
- Maintain client relationships.
- Work directly with clients to assure successful project completion.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Provide leadership.
- Provide ongoing training to engineering staff.
- Provide direction and review engineering work products prepared by others.
- Keep up to date with the latest geotechnical survey, measurement, and analysis techniques, instrumentation, industry standards, and guidelines.
- Review and sign geotechnical proposals and reports on behalf of the company.
Education
- PE license required.
- B.S. in Civil Engineering required; M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis preferred.
Required Skills
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Arizona.
- 10+ years of experience in the geotechnical industry performing the duties described above.
- Well-rounded background in geotechnical engineering.
- Strong work ethic.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Track record of successful client relationships and service.
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of geotechnical engineering.
- Experience with construction and earthwork activities.
- Geophysical survey experience is an additional asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work and meet deadlines under time pressure.
- Positive attitude.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
Status: Full-time, in office or hybrid with one day remote, if approved by supervisor, per company policy.
