Senior Power BI Analyst
Job Purpose
The Senior Power BI Analyst is responsible for assisting the revenue cycle management team in monitoring revenue and accounts receivable data through Power BI reporting. The person will work with key stakeholders to transform raw data into cohesive, valuable reports capturing meaningful business insights. The candidate must be able to work at a detailed level while maintaining the big picture of the overall division goals. Other responsibilities include compiling comprehensive reports for clients, data mining and analysis, and providing support for the day-to-day operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work with our revenue cycle project leaders to understand our business processes and to develop reporting and analytics to monitor financial performance
Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards to meet the business stakeholders’ needs
Gather and understand business requirements for data visualization and analysis
Collaborate with data teams and analysts to acquire, clean, and transform data for reporting purposes
Create complex DAX calculations and measures to support data analysis
Ensure data security and compliance with best practices
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in Power BI reports
Providing training and support to end users on using Power BI
Keep up-to-date with the latest Power BI features and trends
Prepare recurring daily/weekly/month reports and dashboards to address and support key business functions and initiatives
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of client specific data, including payer mix, insurance and financial classes, patient access system details, data timing issues, and other issues of specific importance to each client
Support day-to-day operations with ad-hoc analyses
Communicate and collaborate with other team members and clients to develop solutions as needed
Compile comprehensive and accurate client facing reports on a timely basis
Analyze and solve problems quickly and thoroughly
Other duties as assigned
Use, protect and disclose patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
Understand and comply with Information Security and HIPAA policies and procedures at all times
Limit viewing of PHI to the absolute minimum as necessary to perform assigned duties
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics, or relevant fields
5+ years of experience or equivalent in a revenue cycle analytics position in the healthcare industry
Proficiency in Power BI development, including report and dashboard creation; Power BI certifications are a plus
Strong understanding of data modeling and data visualization concepts
Experience with SQL for data manipulation and extraction
Knowledge of Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) for creating calculations
Familiarity with data warehouse concepts
Experience collaborating with customer support/client issue resolution management
A thorough understanding of best practices for efficiently working with large data sets
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization
Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results oriented
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
