Position Summary
Directly responsible for producing the construction documents. Able to collaborate within a multi-discipline team environment and maximize the use of resources to improve design and build collaboration, increase profit per project, and improve the value-added building strategies provided by KAI.
Assists Designer and design team in completion of schematic design and design development documents. Assumes leadership role in Construction Documents and Bidding phases and assists in Construction Administration. Responsible for directing and coordinating assigned personnel and consultants. Keeps Project Manager fully informed of the production and project status.
Essential Functions
- Lead multi-disciplinary team to strategically leverage talents for project success.
- Coordinate and communicate scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Collaborate within digital design (BIM) team for consistent outcomes.
- Develop compliant cartoon sets aligning with production standards.
- Provide weekly progress reports to Project Manager, managing personnel and labor hours.
- Manage keyed note system and coordinate with specifications.
- Ensure BIM model alignment with budget and schedule through coordination.
- Initiate project setup and administer daily model management.
- Create BIM content adhering to firm standards.
- Integrate digital design and BIM with other applications.
- Maintain project records as per retention procedures.
- Optimize personnel assignments for task completion.
- Keep Project Manager informed of production status.
- Assist in setting design team meeting agendas.
- Recommend team adjustments to meet deadlines.
- Ensure construction document standard compliance.
- Integrate all disciplines’ requirements in the design process.
- Foster a positive team environment.
- Demonstrate proficiency in assigned tasks.
- Mentor junior staff in technical production aspects.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Professional degree in Architecture required.
- Registered Architect required; NCARB (National Council of Architecture Registration Boards) preferred. This position may be required to sign/seal project documents.
- 10+ years of experience in profession, primarily in projects similar to KAI required.
- Knowledge of Architectural production practices and experience in the utilization of documentation standards required.
- Experience in other 3D software graphic programs is also valuable (SketchUp, Lumion, Enscape, etc.).
- Experience in assisting on projects during Bidding and Construction Administration required.
- Experience in supervising team involved in production of project documentation and coordinating other disciplines and sub-consultants required.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office Suite required. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Navisworks encouraged.
- Proficiency in organizing and producing design and construction details and documentation from schematic design through construction documents.
- Excellent written, graphic, and verbal communication and presentation skills required.
