Senior Project Manager
Summary
Leads large-scale transit infrastructure projects, coordinating light rail and subway construction from planning through commissioning while ensuring safety, budget, and regulatory compliance.
We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to provide comprehensive engineering and project management services associated with the delivery of the Rapid Transit Operations program. Project deliverables and technical input. Responsible for project deliverables and technical input.
- Manages the efficient delivery of light rail and subways infrastructure elements through project activities
- Assists with development and assessment of operations relating to the delivery and implementation of light rapid transit corridor infrastructure
Participates in the development of design proposals and evaluates and recommends RFP/RFQ submissions; manages In-Market activities, including Contractor Requests for Information, and reviews submissions during project design phase
Delivers projects from initial conception through commissioning and transfer to Operations within scope, on budget and on schedule; oversees project activities to ensure compliance with good project management and construction practices as well as corporate design standards and applicable municipal, provincial and federal codes
Monitors objectives related to engineering, design standards/design review, technical specifications, document control, budget and work breakdown structures, project schedules, resource prioritization, and staffing requirements
- Manages contractors’ construction plans and schedules for completeness, workability, and alignment with contract documents; oversees contractors’ compliance to all contract provisions, including monitoring the contractor safety, quality, environmental compliance, cost, and schedule performance
Communicates effectively with agencies, and other external stakeholders to define requirements, develop project implementation plans and monitor compliance for light railway infrastructure corridors; delivers proper ongoing communication and consultation with external stakeholders and elected officials
- A University degree in Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is an asset. PMP certification is strongly desired.
- Demonstrated years of progressively responsible experience in capital project management and implementation, including at least five years of experience managing large, complex, multi-year transit projects, preferably for light rail transit, tunneling, underground stations, storage and maintenance facilities, operating system and related works.
- Certifications or Designations: If driving is a requirement of the role, a valid Ontario Class ‘G’ driver’s license is required to travel to various site locations, meetings, operational facilities, etc. Must meet and maintain the corporate standard for a good driving record.
