Senior Python developer builds and maintains data pipelines, back-end services, and APIs for a financial-controls platform, using Python, PySpark, and cloud technologies.
Project description
As part of Technology team, the Python back-end engineer will work on to develop, enhance, and maintain platform services supporting control specific data preparation pipelines, back-end application components, APIs and workflow integrations. The role will also contribute to platform modernization and cloud-aligned strategic initiatives. This role requires strong experience in Python development, API design, distributed systems, cloud technologies, and software engineering best practices. The resource must be able to quickly integrate into an existing development team and contribute to strategic delivery commitments.
Responsibilities

- Development and enhancement of Python based control specific data preparation modules, back-end services and APIs.
- Design and implementation of automation and workflow orchestration capabilities.
- Integration of controls onboarding and surveillance components across the platform.
- Delivery of performance, scalability, and reliability improvements.
- Support for cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
- Resolution of application defects and production support issues.
- Delivery of technical documentation and adherence to SDLC and control standards.
- Maintenance of technical documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
SKILLS
Must have
- 10+ years of experience in data intensive python development. Software design patterns (System design specific) – Event driven, Service oriented (Microservices), Shared nothing, Serverless Software design patterns (Generic) – Singleton, Factory, Decorator, Adapter, Mixins, Prototype, Proxy, Observable Tools and technologies: Python, Kafka (or equivalent queue systems, celery, RabbitMQ), SQS, Pub-Sub, Redis/Memcache (Caching), Airflow, Spark, HDFS, Docker container or GKE (Good to have) Frameworks: Pyspark, Pandas, Django, Flask, SqlAlchemy (Equivalent ORM), Any other REST API equivalent, SQL AI tools: Github Copilot, Gemini (Good to have) Version Control: GIT CI/CD: Github Actions, Jenkins (Good to Have) Cloud Native: SQS, Cloud Tasks/Pub-Sub, S3 or GCS, Cloud Composer, Dataproc, Data Fusion/ Dataflow, Cloud Spanner, Big-query
Nice to have
• Knowledge of web backend technology - Django, Python, PostgreSQL. • Atlassian Jira • Understanding of Financial Markets Asset Classes (FX, FI, Equities, Rates, Commodities & Credit), various trade types (OTC, exchange traded, Spot, Forward, Swap, Options) and related systems is a plus • Surveillance domain knowledge, regulations (MAR, MIFID, CAT, Dodd Frank) and related Systems knowledge is certainly a plus
