Senior Python/Django Backend Engineer (Remote)

Shakers is seeking a Senior Python / Django Developer for a freelance, full-remote role with an international organization. You will own back-end development, testing and performance, building software that runs reliably in challenging environments.

You will deploy on Kubernetes, optimize database models and schemas (Postgres/SQLNoSQL), and participate in CI/CD, QA and documentation. Fluent English is required; Italian is a plus.

Develop, test and debug back-end features; maintain near-total test coverage on the CI build server Run performance and stress testing to validate the system scales Optimize data models and database performance (Postgres, SQL/NoSQL) Deploy and maintain services on Kubernetes; conduct code reviews and keep docs to standard Advise on Python/Django best practices and support knowledge transfer to internal staff 5-8 years building production Python/Django systems. Hands-on Kubernetes deployment/maintenance, Docker, Git-based workflows. Database optimization experience (Postgres, SQL/NoSQL). Agile / CI-CD delivery and strong QA testing discipline. Bonus: experience delivering web solutions for low-bandwidth / constrained environments. Fluent English (Italian a plus).
