About the role

We are looking for an experienced QA Engineer to join our Data Insights (DI) team.

The role is primarily focused on strong manual and analytical testing of backend and data-intensive systems. We are open to both Mid and Senior-level candidates depending on their experience, technical depth, and ability to work independently.

Automation experience is an advantage, but it is not a mandatory requirement. For this role, strong QA fundamentals, backend/API testing, database knowledge, analytical thinking, and attention to detail are more important.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute manual, exploratory, integration, and end-to-end tests
  • Analyze product and technical requirements, identify gaps, risks, edge cases, and unclear scenarios
  • Test and validate APIs, backend services, and integrations between systems
  • Perform SQL-based database testing and data validation
  • Validate data consistency and correctness across different components and system flows
  • Investigate complex issues using logs, database queries, API responses, and other available diagnostic information
  • Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis to help identify where problems originate
  • Create and maintain appropriate test plans, test cases, checklists, and other QA documentation
  • Identify, document, track, and communicate defects clearly
  • Work closely with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle
  • Participate in integration and E2E testing across multiple services and components
  • Identify testing risks, gaps, dependencies, and potential quality issues early and communicate them proactively
  • Support delivery planning by estimating testing effort and highlighting dependencies or blockers
  • Contribute to improving QA processes, test coverage, and overall product quality
  • Where applicable, contribute to test automation and automation coverage

Requirements

  • Solid commercial software testing experience at Mid or Senior level
  • Strong hands-on Manual QA experience
  • Strong understanding of QA principles and processes, including:
    • Test design and test techniques
    • Requirements analysis
    • Exploratory testing
    • Integration and E2E testing
    • Regression testing
    • Defect management
  • Strong API and backend testing experience, preferably with distributed systems and RESTful APIs
  • Good SQL skills and practical experience with database testing and data validation
  • Ability to investigate complex problems using logs, API requests/responses, database data, and other diagnostic information
  • Good troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify edge cases and inconsistencies
  • Ability to understand complex system flows and dependencies between multiple services/components
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of testing activities
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Good communication and collaboration skills

  • Experience with log analysis/observability tools such as Kibana
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Experience working with distributed or multinational teams
