About Scopex

Scopex moves money from Europe/US to India for NRIs and expats — 0% transfer fees, better-than-market rates, and delivery to Indian bank accounts in minutes rather than days. Behind that simple promise sits real financial infrastructure: identity verification, regulated payin rails, customer wallets, and settlement with banking partners.

Our mobile app is the product. Almost every customer interaction — onboarding, KYC, funding, sending, tracking — happens on a phone. We are looking for a senior engineer to own that surface.

The role

You will be a senior individual contributor with genuine ownership of our React Native codebase: a large TypeScript app shipping to the App Store and Play Store plus over-the-air updates.

This is not a ticket-closing role. You will shape mobile architecture, decide what gets refactored, and be the person the team trusts on anything that touches the app.

What you'll actually work on

  • Money movement flows. Send money, split transfers, add money, bank-linked payins, wallet balances, rate alerts. These flows have to be correct under bad networks, partial failures, and retries — a double-charged customer is not an acceptable bug.
  • Identity and auth. KYC and re-verification journeys with our verification partners; passkeys and WebAuthn; biometric unlock; device management; social sign-in.
  • Release engineering. You own the release train: versioning, Gradle and Xcode builds, CI pipelines, and OTA delivery across staging and production.
  • Performance and stability. Startup time, list performance, animation-driven interactions, bundle size, and keeping crash and performance monitoring boring. Our crash-free rate is a number you will care about.
  • Platform health. Keeping us current on the React Native release train and charting our New Architecture path.
  • Testing. Unit tests with Jest and React Native Testing Library, end-to-end smoke flows with Maestro. We want more coverage on the money paths, and we want you to have opinions about how.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years building software, with 3+ years shipping production React Native apps to both the App Store and Play Store. You have owned apps with real users, not just prototypes.
  • Strong TypeScript. You use the type system to make broken states unrepresentable, not to decorate any.
  • You can drop into native when you have to. Reading and debugging Swift/Objective-C and Kotlin/Java, wiring up a native module, interpreting a native crash trace, and resolving Gradle or CocoaPods problems without stalling for days.
  • Depth in the modern RN ecosystem: React Navigation, Reanimated, Gesture Handler, fast key-value storage, React Query for server state, Context for app state. You know when a re-render is the real problem.
  • Judgement about correctness. You instinctively think about idempotency, error states, race conditions, and what the user sees when the request times out at the worst possible moment.
  • You write for the next engineer. Clear PRs, reviewable commits, and code that matches the conventions around it.
  • Strong written English and async habits. Our team spans time zones; clarity in writing is how we stay fast.

Nice to have

  • Fintech, payments, remittance, or any regulated environment — especially KYC/AML, PCI, or FCA/RBI-adjacent constraints
  • Passkeys, WebAuthn, or applied client-side cryptography and secure key handling
  • OTA update strategy and staged rollouts
  • Experience leading a New Architecture / Fabric migration
  • Localisation and multi-currency UX
  • Mobile analytics and growth instrumentation
