Senior Ruby Engineer
Salary: $140,000 – $150,000 per year + Benefits
This is something new!
A "Banking as a Service" product that lets other businesses safely manage customers, transacting accounts and payments through APIs and webhooks. It's a genuine zero-to-one product with real momentum, and the team is now looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help them take it from MVP to a platform others can build on.
This is a hands-on role at the heart of the product. You'll be working on the APIs and backend that move money for businesses, in a domain where correctness isn't optional.
This standalone venture commercialises cutting-edge banking and payments infrastructure, selling directly to fintechs, payroll providers, and financial service platforms. With clients already lined up, you will work alongside a Principal Engineer to take the core product from MVP to a scalable, enterprise-grade platform.
You'll be the kind of person comfortable operating in a completely gray area with no frameworks, playbooks, or established processes. It requires comfort with ambiguity and a risk appetite. On the flip-side, you'll have the expertise and support of those who have done it before and have had substantial success doing it. The team sits inside a well-funded successful company that knows how to go from Zero to One and succeed globally.
The Role & Day-to-Day
Build, scale, and refine a core platform using Ruby on Rails and AWS.
Take significant ownership over technical architecture and feature prioritisation in an autonomous, team-led environment.
Work in a high-velocity, early-stage startup environment where established playbooks do not yet exist.
Collaborate directly with business and engineering leads to drive product rollout.
Technical & Candidate Requirements
Ruby on Rails: Deep experience and strong technical confidence in building production-ready Rails applications.
AWS Cloud Infrastructure: Proven experience working with core AWS services to deploy and manage web applications.
Fintech / Financial Services Experience: Strong preference for engineers with background experience in payments, banking, or transactional fintech systems.
Startup Mindset: High tolerance for ambiguity, strong self-direction, and a collaborative, low-ego approach to problem-solving.
