Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Service Engineer (m/f/d) to strengthen our automation service organization in Drammen. In this role, you will be responsible for programming, commissioning, servicing, and supporting Integrated Alarm & Control Systems (IAS/IAMCS) and SCADA solutions for marine applications.

You will work closely with shipowners, shipyards, and internal engineering teams, covering the full service lifecycle from software integration and refit projects to warranty handling and sea trials. The position combines strong technical ownership with a customer-facing, hands-on service role and requires a high level of independence, flexibility, and professionalism.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform commissioning, service, refits, upgrades, FAT/HAT, and sea trial support for marine automation systems worldwide

  • Develop, modify, and standardize PLC and SCADA software, both in-house and onboard vessels

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation, software, and hardware issues under operational conditions

  • Handle warranty cases for newbuild projects and provide remote and onboard support to shipowners and vessel crews

  • Prepare, update, and maintain technical documentation such as functional descriptions, drawings, and interface documentation

  • Support class compliance, customer acceptance, and system handover activities

  • Act as a trusted technical interface toward customers, shipyards, and internal stakeholders


Key Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Solid hands-on experience with industrial automation systems, SCADA solutions, and PLC programming (IEC 61131-3 preferred)

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across automation software, electronics, computers, and industrial networks

  • Experience with industrial and marine communication protocols such as Modbus, NMEA, OPC, and Profibus

  • Comfortable working onboard vessels and traveling internationally for service and commissioning assignments

  • Fluency in English and Norwegian, both written and spoken

  • Ability to obtain NATO and national security clearance in accordance with applicable regulations

  • Strong service mindset with a clear focus on customer satisfaction and quality delivery
