Fleet Response is seeking an experienced Senior Software Development Engineer to help design, develop, enhance, and support modern enterprise software solutions across our technology environment. This role is ideal for a senior full-stack engineer who enjoys working across the entire application stack, solving complex business problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle.

Job Summary

The Senior Software Development Engineer serves as a senior technical contributor within Fleet Response's Agile development teams, designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions across all layers of the technology stack.

This position partners with business stakeholders, Product, UX, Architecture, Quality Engineering, and other technology teams to gather requirements, define solutions, develop enhancements, and support successful implementation.

The Senior Software Development Engineer also provides technical leadership on complex and highly visible initiatives, helps ensure solutions align with Fleet Response's long-term technology strategy, and contributes to modern development practices including Agile delivery, Test-Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain enterprise software solutions across all tiers of the application architecture.
  • Work on complex, major, and highly visible initiatives requiring expertise across multiple technical areas.
  • Develop scalable, maintainable, and high-quality application solutions that support business and client needs.
  • Participate throughout the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and support.
  • Support application releases and development activities using Agile SDLC practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
  • Design, develop, and extend backend web services using technologies such as JSON, .NET web services, SQL, and RESTful APIs.
  • Develop and maintain front-end application functionality using modern web technologies.
  • Create and consume RESTful APIs supporting internal and external application integrations.
  • Apply expertise across multiple technical environments while developing strong knowledge of supported business areas.
  • Work closely with architects to ensure applications and technical solutions align with Fleet Response's long-term technology strategy and architectural standards.
  • Participate in solution scoping and technical design activities.
  • Identify and develop solutions to business and client challenges.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into practical software designs and implementations.
  • Collaborate with Product, UX, Engineering, Quality Engineering, and other stakeholders throughout requirements, design, development, testing, and implementation.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to clarify requirements, evaluate potential solutions, and support successful delivery.
  • Prototype and implement new features, enhancements, integrations, and technical solutions.
  • Develop and execute unit tests to validate application functionality and support software quality.
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to promote quality, maintainability, and consistency.
  • Support application deployment and release activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, production issues, and technical problems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve application performance, maintainability, reliability, and development efficiency.
  • Contribute to technical standards, development practices, reusable components, and engineering best practices.
  • Adapt to evolving business requirements, changing priorities, new technologies, and emerging development practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to other members of the development team.
  • Maintain appropriate technical documentation related to application design, development, integrations, and supported solutions.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned based on departmental and business needs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong experience with full-stack application design and development.
  • Expert knowledge of API and web development technologies.
  • Proficiency with C#, Angular 9+, TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS, LESS, Node.js, or comparable modern development technologies.
  • Strong experience creating and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Experience developing backend services using .NET technologies.
  • Experience working with SQL-based data environments.
  • Experience with source control and development tools such as Azure DevOps, Git, or similar repositories.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments.
  • Experience supporting CI/CD-based software delivery.
  • Strong understanding of software design, testing, debugging, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Comfortable working within a predominantly .NET and Windows-based technology environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and partners across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing technical and business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Experience writing T-SQL.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF).
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with Azure DevOps pipelines and modern CI/CD tooling.
  • Experience with Test-Driven Development.
  • Experience working closely with Product and UX teams.
  • Experience designing solutions for complex enterprise applications or business-critical systems.
  • Experience providing technical guidance, mentorship, or code-review support to other developers.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily in a professional indoor office and hybrid work environment.
  • Requires prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, software development, technical analysis, testing, documentation, and reading.
  • Requires close visual attention when reviewing code, system information, application designs, technical documentation, and computer-based data.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, through video conferencing, and through electronic communication.
  • Regular use of wrists, hands, and fingers is required for computer and technology-related activities.
  • This is primarily a sedentary position.
  • Must occasionally be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 10 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, exempt position.

Flexible scheduling options may be available based on departmental and business needs.

Work Arrangement: Employees are expected to work in office during their first 90 days. Following the initial 90-day period, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, including regularly scheduled work-from-home days, based on departmental needs, business requirements, and performance expectations.

Additional onsite attendance may be required for team collaboration, meetings, training, project needs, or other business requirements.
