This team owns the design and delivery of new microservices and serverless capabilities that will underpin core business-critical functions for years to come. The environment is fully cloud-native, built on Java 21, Python, Kafka, Kubernetes and AWS (Lambda, ECS), delivering high-throughput, event-driven distributed systems that need to be resilient, observable, and built to scale. You'll work across the full lifecycle — from design and architecture through to build, testing, and production support — with real ownership over how problems get solved, not just how tickets get closed.
What we are looking for:
- Strong hands-on Java experience (Java 21 highly regarded), with working knowledge of Python
- Experience designing and building microservices and serverless functions (AWS Lambda) from the ground up
- Solid understanding of event-driven architecture, ideally with Kafka
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong SQL skills and the ability to reason about data at scale
- A genuine design and architecture mindset — someone who can take a business problem and turn it into a system design, then bring others along with the idea
- Domain exposure to banking, payments, or other transaction-critical financial services environments is highly regarded but not essential
