Senior Software Engineer

Position Summary:

Are you ready to start a new journey with a team of energized professionals advancing and connecting the worlds infrastructure? Bentley is looking for you! We are looking for a senior software engineer to join our Asset Operations Team working under a software engineering manager.

Responsibilities:

• Build React front-end components and .NET APIs.
• Develop business logic using C#, SQL Server, and REST APIs.
• Maintain and enhance existing applications built with ASP.NET, JavaScript, CSS, and SQL Server.
• Design secure, scalable solutions using proven design patterns and SOLID principles.
• Break down complex requirements into deliverable work with accurate estimates.
• Troubleshoot production and support issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing solutions.
• Develop automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Conduct code reviews and collaborate through Git-based workflows.
• Use AI-assisted development tools effectively, including creating prompts and validating generated code, tests, documentation, and technical recommendations.
• Identify and correct inaccurate, insecure, inefficient, or low-value AI-generated output, including repetitive prompt loops, hallucinations, and excessive token consumption.
• Establish development best practices and evaluate new technologies and approaches.
• Translate technical concepts into clear recommendations for Product Owners, Support, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders.
• Manage and track work through Azure DevOps.
• Collaborate with global teams through Microsoft Teams, email, and virtual meetings.
• This is a full-time role based in our Pune, India office with up to 10% travel.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Multiple years of experience developing web applications using some or all of:
• ASP.NET
• React
• C#
• .NET Core / .NET Framework
• SQL Server
• REST APIs
• Microservices
• Experience mentoring junior developers.
• Strong understanding of design patterns, SOLID principles, software architecture, and root cause analysis.
• Experience using Git and Azure DevOps in an Agile development environment.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies.
• Ability to craft effective prompts and critically evaluate AI-generated code, designs, and recommendations.
• Ability to recognize incorrect assumptions, security risks, inefficient solutions, and unproductive AI interaction patterns.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently with minimal supervision.
