Senior Software Engineer

Duties: The Senior Software Engineer at CNH Industrial America LLC in Sioux Falls, SD will evaluate the current state of driver support for peripheral and IC selection on custom hardware. Support board bring-up and hardware validation through device-tree and bootloader configurations. Implement and maintain secure boot flows into the Linux kernel on custom hardware. Write and debug code, creating test cases, optimize performance and ensuring the software functions correctly, includes kernel drivers, userspace applications and scripts. Manage Yocto layers across multiple builds/products and select appropriate methods to share or isolate code. Manage release processes and tooling for manufacturing. Implement safe and secure update methods for the Linux image and bootloader. Assist in debugging and root causing failures discovered through the QA process. May act as lead on projects and guide lower-level engineers and technicians. Telecommuting permitted 2 days per week.

Minimum Requirements: Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field and 3 years of experience as a software engineer or related occupation. In lieu of a Master’s degree and 3 years of experience, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience as a software engineer or related occupation. Must have 2 years of experience with each of the following: (1) troubleshooting and diagnosing embedded systems hardware and software using Oscilloscope or Logic Analyzer; (2) designing and developing software and firmware of embedded systems; (3) designing hardware-in-loop or QEMU-virtualized test setup for testing BSP and software components using Bash and Python scripting; (4) manufacturing process and build flow; (5) C/C++ and Rust for managing features; and (6) developing and debugging kernel device drivers for custom design hardware.
