Senior Software Engineer - Detection Infra

About the team:

The Detection Infra team builds Fortinet's next-gen cyber-detection engine, protecting customers from account takeover, malicious traffic, phishing, and data loss at massive scale. We own our data platform end-to-end — including our own large-scale data warehouse — and we're expanding our AI-powered engines to resolve real customer pains, faster. In addition to our own projects, we work closely with the broader Detection Group, supporting and accelerating initiatives that intersect with our domain.

As a senior engineer on the Detection Infra team, you will need to:

• Lead product and technical design — including writing and reviewing technical RFCs — and take features from idea to production
• Be skilled in system design, with real production-environment ownership
• Have strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration, including Product, Frontend, ML, and DevOps teams
• Leverage AI in Development by integrating AI-driven tools into your daily workflow to accelerate coding, automate testing, and streamline code reviews, maximizing development efficiency.

We Are Looking For:

• 5+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer in production environments (Python and FastAPI – advantage)
• Big Data / ETL pipeline development experience (AWS Lambda, Kinesis, and DynamoDB, or equivalents)
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake or a similar large-scale data warehouse — experience owning cost/performance at scale is a strong plus
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills
• Deep understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases (e.g., DynamoDB, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch)
• Solid understanding of system design and data architecture principles

Advantage:

• Experience building LLM-powered features or applications (e.g., LangChain/LangGraph, RAG, Bedrock/OpenAI)
• Experience with Kubeflow or another DAG-based pipeline orchestration platform
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs and real-time, scalable production systems
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for deployment and orchestration
• Experience with Redis
