Senior Software Engineer
Summary
Senior software engineer building cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and GCP at Ford.
- Design, develop, test, and support scalable digital platforms and services.
- Build cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and GCP.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and platform integrations.
- Collaborate with architects to create and evolve technical designs and solution architecture.
- Participate in application migrations, modernization initiatives, and production support activities.
- Deliver high-quality software through Agile and Extreme Programming (XP) practices.
- Work closely with Product Managers and Product Owners to prioritize business value-driven solutions.
- Develop automated unit, integration, regression, and performance tests.
- Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting capabilities using industry-standard tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation.
- Ensure adherence to security and quality standards, including SAST and DAST practices.
- Conduct proof-of-concepts and rapid prototyping for new features and AI-driven solutions.
- Research emerging technologies and recommend innovative approaches to improve application delivery.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, demos, and retrospectives.
- Provide on-call support on a rotational basis, including occasional off-hours and weekend coverage.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, MCA, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience developing and supporting enterprise software applications.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Spring technologies, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring JDBC, and Spring Cloud.
- 3+ years of experience designing and developing Microservices and REST APIs.
- 2+ years of cloud-native development experience on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Strong proficiency in Java development and object-oriented programming concepts.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Maven, or Gradle.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit and Selenium.
- Experience with code quality and security tools such as SonarQube, Checkmarx, and 42Crunch.
Preferred
- Experience implementing Generative AI or AI-powered solutions.
- Experience with Google AI tools and services.
- Understanding of observability platforms such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
- Experience working with Pair Programming and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Exposure to Agile software development methodologies.
